Jessica Sharman is your Tax Prep Pro! She specializes in personal and business tax preparation, payroll, bookkeeping and business formation.
Jessica got her start in finance as an Airman in the US Air Force. Over the course of two active duty tours, she honed her skills as a financial manager, focusing on auditing, quality control, financial analysis, budgeting, payroll and managing appropriated funds. After the Air Force, she transitioned to the corporate sector, working for a company that builds and teaches Military Financial Systems worldwide. Additionally, she’s worked for First 5 California as a data analyst and was a finance clerk for the Lawndale Elementary School District, before making her way into the world of taxes.
After more than six years at The Tax Place, Jessica purchased the business in 2017. While she worked her way up to business owner, she became a Registered Tax Preparer with the California Tax Education Council and the Internal Revenue Service and a Certified QuickBooks Pro-Advisor. She keeps up to date with the changing tax laws and strives to provide solutions for all her clients.
Jessica was born and raised in the South Bay. She is a single parent raising her awesome 16-year-old son, Jackson and a boxer named Trixie Belle. In her spare time, she spends as much time as possible with family and friends and loves to travel.
Liz Duran - Office Manager
Our office manager, Liz is likely the first smiling face you’ll see upon visiting The Tax Place. Liz brings her can-do attitude and professionalism to the office everyday. You can count on her attention to detail, organization skills and bookkeeping experience to get the job done. She specializes in Bookkeeping, Workers Comp, Audits, Networking, AP/AR, and Reconciliations. Before joining The Tax Place family, she managed a busy general contractors’ business and acted as a liaison between sub-contractors and construction clients. Once upon a time Liz was a Motor Transport Operator for the United States Army. Liz enjoys spending her free time with her family, going to the beach, and catching as many Dodger games as possible.
Codie Williams - Administrative Assistant
Codie is one of the friendly voices you hear when calling to make your appointment. Since joining The Tax Place over four years ago, she has taken on the responsibilities of bookkeeping, scheduling, file assembly, and Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable. Before coming to The Tax Place, Codie spent the better part of her career working for The City of Lawndale, in the Community Development and Planning Department. She is a California native and grew up right here in the South Bay. When Codie is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family (especially her only Grandson), gardening, baking, and the company of her tiny dog, Speck. She continues to be an integral part of our team and is happy to be of service to our clients.
James Duran - Systems Administrator
Our Systems Administrator & Webmaster James, takes care of all our IT related needs. He makes sure your data is safe, secure, and that the office is running the latest technologies. Experienced in all things computer related, his passion for technology and knack for problem solving keeps everything as productive as possible. When he’s not at The Tax Place, James works in the music industry as a freelance journalist & event promoter - you can usually find him at your favorite music venues on any given night.
